Official Ashtabula County Record Routes

The sheriff and jail maintain separate roles, and the published county numbers do not all agree on non-emergency routing. Use the following verified contact card for records and custody questions. Administrative hours are generally weekdays from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., although individual office hours can vary.

For a non-emergency, public listings give both 440-576-3500 and 440-576-9046. Verify the current route with the sheriff before relying on either number. Call 911 for an emergency.

Choose the source that matches the question rather than assuming one office holds every kind of record.

• For an official booking record, a photo request, or the county’s no-public-roster fallback, start with the home record and custody reference and the Civil Office, Records.
• For the custody or release status of a person in the county system, use the jail administrator or sheriff route above. Do not treat a third-party listing as confirmation.
• For an arrest made in a municipality, begin with the local record path for Ashtabula, Conneaut, or Jefferson.
• For warrant-status questions, review the jurisdiction-specific official paths on Sheriff's Most Wanted; a public wanted listing is not a countywide warrant database.
• For a later state-prison or supervision record, use the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction offender search, not the county booking route.
• For a court case, filing, or disposition, use the Ashtabula County Courts and confirm the appropriate court division.
